DAMA Wiki
I attended and spoke at the DAMA Symposium and Metadata Conference last week in Denver, CO. The event is trying something unique this year with a conference wiki...
The DAMA Symposium and Metadata Conference bills itself as "The World's Largest Vendor-Neutral Data Management Conference" and it lives up to that billing. The 18th annual DAMA Symposium was held the
week of April 23 thru 27, 2006 and there was a lot covered. If you want to learn more about what was covered - or better yet, if you were there and want to share your experiences - check out the wiki set up by the event coordinators by clicking here.
A wiki is a type of website that allows users to easily add, remove, or otherwise edit all content, very quickly and easily, sometimes without the need for registration. The term wiki is a shortened form of wiki wiki, which is Hawaiian in origin and is commonly used as an adjective to denote something "quick" or "fast."
I think this is a good idea. How often would you like to put together a trip report for the folks back at the office who didn't get a chance to attend the event? Well, wouldn't it be easier to point them to the wiki? Or, at least, use the wiki to put together your trip report? I'd like to see other industry events put together wikis for each of their conferences.
What do you think?
