Webinar: Enterprise Database Design for XML

Mark Scardina, Oracle Corp.

Summary

In his presentation, “Enterprise Database Design for XML,” Oracle Corp.’s Mark Scardina discusses XML from Oracle 10g’s broad perspective. XML, says Scardina, is an abstraction of data against which you can create several different storage models that have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages: One size does not fit all. You, the DBA, must look at all the available models and decide which one is right for your purposes. These storage models include the XML type CLOB, XML type View, Schema-based XML type, and the Hybrid XML type. Successful solutions are based on an understanding of how you can optimally work with XML and the Oracle database.
