IDUG in Vienna IDUG in Vienna

The International DB2 User Group's annual European conference...
This week I am in Vienna, Austria, for the annual European International DB2 User Group conference. I will be delivering a presentation titled "Change Control for DB2 Access Paths" on Monday. I hope you'll attend if you are in Vienna for the conference.

I hope to post additional blog entries about this week's IDUG conference for those who cannot attend.

The weather here in Vienna is quite nice - cool and sunny and in the mid 70's. Well, it is cool to me since I live in the Houston, Texas area. Weather reports indicate that it will get rainy later in the week, but so far, the weather is beautiful.

Since the conference doesn't start until tomorrow, today I walked around the city and enjoyed its charm. Vienna is strewn with many cafes and shops. Horse drawn carriages rattle down the street alongside cars and buses. And I also learned that Vienna is surrounded by an almost unbroken green belt that was placed under protection about 100 years ago. This is unique among European cities. No other European city has such a high share of green area - a total of 20,200 hectares.

It should be a good week - and I look forward to learning, sharing, and interfacing with my peers during the upcoming week here at IDUG.
